Key Points To Note When Using Pneumatic Soldering Machines

Ⅰ.Before operation: Conduct thorough checks to eliminate potential hazards.
Before operation, a comprehensive inspection is required: Firstly, connect dry and clean compressed air, adjust the pressure to the rated value of the equipment (typically 0.4-0.6 MPa) and install an oil-water separator to prevent water vapor and oil contamination from entering the pneumatic components, which could cause jamming or air leakage; at the same time, confirm that the power supply voltage matches, the equipment shell is reliably grounded, and check that the power cord and soldering gun connection lines are undamaged and not loose to prevent short circuits or leakage; also, replace the appropriate soldering tip (select based on the wire / soldering point size), confirm that the soldering wire feeding channel is not blocked and the feeding wheel pressure is appropriate, wait for the soldering iron head to preheat to the rated welding temperature (typically 350-450℃) and the temperature to be stable before proceeding; in addition, confirm that the emergency stop button and protective shield (for automated models) function normally without obstruction or damage, and make environmental preparations, ensuring that the operation area is away from flammable and explosive items, maintaining good ventilation, and providing anti-static wrist straps (when soldering electronic components), fire extinguishing equipment, and heat-resistant gloves.

Ⅱ.In the assignment: Follow proper procedures, maintain precise control

Procedures for standard operation in the work: When using a handheld soldering gun, keep your wrist stable. For automated models, ensure that the fixture and clamping device are accurately positioned to avoid accidental contact of the soldering tip. The soldering tip should lightly touch the soldering point and then supply the solder after it becomes wet. Each welding process lasts for 3 to 5 seconds. The amount of solder should be moderate to avoid overheating and damaging the heat-sensitive components. Do not adjust the air pressure or temperature at will. If there is a stoppage in wire feeding or a sudden change in temperature, immediately stop the machine. It is strictly prohibited to strike the workpiece with the soldering tip, or to dismantle components while the machine is running or to enter the fixture area while the machine is in operation. In case of any abnormality such as air leakage, abnormal noise, or smoke emission, immediately cut off the power supply and gas source, cool down, and troubleshoot the problem. It is forbidden to operate the machine with faults.

Ⅲ.After the work: Cleaning and maintenance, extending the lifespan
Stop the machine according to the procedure after completing the work: First, turn off the heating switch. Wait until the welding nozzle cools down to room temperature, then cut off the power supply and gas source. Finally, clean the welding slag and tin debris. Use a special wet sponge to wipe the welding nozzle, clean the wire feeding channel, and do not use hard scraping tools. Regularly remove impurities from the oil-water separator, add special lubricating oil to the pneumatic actuator, and prevent components from rusting and getting stuck. Replace the welding nozzle, wire feeding wheel, and wire guide tube in time when they are oxidized, deformed, or worn out.

Ⅳ.Implement dual protection for both personnel and workpieces

When performing work, wear heat-resistant gloves, goggles and a respirator or connect a smoke purifier. Do not touch high-temperature components with bare hands. Equipment malfunctions should be handled by professionals. Take thermal insulation measures for welding electronic components, tin-plated wire, and precision terminals. Place anti-static mats in the work area and have operators wear anti-static wristbands. Regularly maintain the equipment in accordance with regulations. Clean the welding nozzle and wire feeding channel daily, remove impurities from the oil-water separator, check the air pressure and temperature. Check the air pipe joints, tighten the screws, add lubricating oil to pneumatic components and check the connection lines of the soldering gun every week. Calibrate the temperature of the welding nozzle, check the positioning accuracy of the workholding fixtures and replace aged air pipes and seals every month. For equipment that is to be idle for a long time, cut off the power and air sources, thoroughly clean, apply anti-rust oil and cover with a dust cover after that.
